About Us

AbYBiotech has developed from the Applied Biochemistry Group at Dublin City University and has over 35 years of experience of antibody production and immunoassay design.

The team has generated over 250 peer-reviewed papers, 30 reviews, 50 book chapters, 2 books and many patented and licensed antibody-associated reagents. They have world-wide collaborations and are internationally recognised for their expertise and the materials and training that they provide.

The focus is on the development of high performance antibodies, produced mainly by recombinant approaches. This has allowed the tailoring of antibodies for specific applications and detection platforms ensuring correct orientation, ultra-low affinities and high sensitivity, excellent specificities, and stability. Antibodies have been successfully designed and transferred and are now successfully deployed in commercialised systems for clinical and other diagnostic areas. These include detection of inflammation, biomarkers for cancer diagnosis/prognosis, troponins and other markers of cardiac disease, pathogens, food toxins and environmental contaminants.

AbYBiotech has a portfolio of antibodies and antibody derivatives and very significant expertise in novel immunoassay development.

Combined Expertise

By combining the unique knowledge on antibody engineering and immunoassay development of our team members, we want to help translational, clinical and environmental contaminant researchers address unmet analytical needs to enhance human health. Our researchers primarily come from the following three backgrounds:

Molecular Biology

Environmental Science

Diagnostics

We’re based in Dublin City University

DCU is an University of Enterprise focused on the needs of industry with a specific focus on biotechnology. AbYBiotech has originated from the expertise of the University in antibody generation.
